Microsoft Web Application Gallery Collects Popular Free Web Apps in One Place
Microsoft has created a clearing house for the most popular free web applications. The Windows Web Application Gallery, (WWAG,) is a site where users can instantly download, install and configure a variety of web apps, even those not written by Microsoft. Users can easily browse through the list of popular apps, read reviews and begin the installation process right from the website.
The site makes use of Microsoft’s Web Platform Installer to install and configure all required libraries and underlying applications. The Web Platform installer is a tool designed to greatly simplify the installation of web applications using Microsoft’s Internet Information Server under Windows.
Using the Web App Gallery as the front end and the Web Platform Installer underneath, visitors to the site can quickly and easily learn about and select a popular web application, then get up and running with a minimum of effort and without extensive knowledge of underlying technologies such as MySQL.
